Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has tasked security to conduct an independent investigation on the death of UCU student murdered during Makerere University guild campaigns.
Betungura Bwetta, a second year law student at UCU Kampala campus was murdered on Thursday July 14th, 2022 in a scuffle between NUP and FDC supporters.
FDC, in an eulogy for the late, said he had come to Makerere University to canvas support for his former classmate Justus Tukamushaba.
The party is now calling for an independent investigation into the matter so that the culprit is brought to book.
“we call upon the authorities to expedite a quick independent investigation on this matter, and the culprits are brought to book! We demand justice for this young man!” The party said in a tweet.
The party further condemned the political hooliganism exhibited by some students during the campaigns.
According to Kampala metropolitan police, three individuals are in police custody to aid in the investigation.
Makerere University council has suspended the guild elections as investigations into the matter continue.
