Justus Tukamushaba, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag bearer in Makerere University’s 88th guild race, is seeking justice for his deceased friend Bewatte Betungura.
Bewatte Betungura a second year law student at UCU Kampala campus was killed during the July 14th, 2022 scuffle between NUP and FDC supporters.
The deceased was a close friend and former classmate to Justus Tukamushaba for whom he had come to canvas support.
Justus Tukamushaba had gone silent about the matter till of late.
In an exclusive dialogue with the Bee, Tukamushaba revealed that he wants justice to be done.
The FDC flag bearer says police should dig deep to find the culprit to the murder as opposed to quickly drawing conclusions.
Despite the incident, Justus seems not to be shaken as he vows to continue with the struggle, and bring all players of injustice to book.
Justus further urged all his supporters to remain firm and not lose hope. Clearly stating that its only them (students) that can bring the change they desire for its a ‘just us generation’.
Ever since the occurrence of the scuffle in which Bewatte was killed, police has been investigating the matter.
Eight arrests have so far been done with four individuals of these released on police bond due to lack of evidence to pin them to the scuffle outbreak nor murder.
According to Uganda police, the deceased succumbed to hemorrhagic shock following a wound he sustained during the scuffle.
Bewatte’s death brought to halt the electoral process and all aspirants are anxiously waiting for what will come next.
