Siperia Mollie Saasirabo, a guild representative councillor (GRC) for the school of psychology at Makerere is in full happiness after her suspension from UNSA by the Vice Chancellor was rescinded..
In mid-October this year, Mollie led female students in the demonstration that was against 15% tuition increment at Makerere University where she was arrested and later on suspended from the university together with other 8 students.
They were subjected to the university students disciplinary committee which has been handling their case, last week the committee agreed and decided to revoke the suspension of Mollie and her colleagues.
But as the saying goes ‘’patience pays but pains’’, yesterday the dean of students at Makerere University, Mr Cyriaco Kabagambe, wrote to the UNSA executive requesting them to rescind the suspension of Mollie’s recommendation.
“This is to inform you that the suspension for Ms Saasirabo has been lifted by the vice chancellor following the decision of the university students’ disciplinary committee that the suspension be lifted. Management has also argued that the withdrawal of Ms Saasirabo’s recommendation to UNSA, which was dated on 24th October 2019, be rescinded since it was based on the suspension.’’ Dean of students wrote to UNSA executive.
