A second-year student at Makerere University has made a public appeal for financial support after failing to clear tuition arrears that threaten to derail his academic journey.
Assimwe Raiven Ricky, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Population Studies, says he is facing severe financial hardship and urgently needs help to continue his education.
According to the appeal notice, Assimwe is a self-sponsored student who must clear Shs1.7 million in outstanding tuition from the previous semester in order to apply for a dead year, a process that would allow him to temporarily pause his studies and return later.
Deadline Fast Approaching
Assimwe explained that the university requires the outstanding tuition to be cleared within six weeks of the semester, but the deadline is quickly approaching.
“We are already in week five, and I need to clear my previous semester tuition in order to apply for a dead year and continue my studies later,” he said in the appeal.
Without settling the balance, the student risks losing his academic progress at one of Uganda’s leading universities.

Appeal for Support
The student is now calling upon well-wishers, alumni and the public to support him financially so that he can remain on the path to completing his degree.
“Any support will help me preserve my academic journey,” he noted in his message.
Assimwe hopes that with collective support, he will be able to overcome the financial setback and eventually resume his studies.

Assimwe says anyone willing to assist can reach him through the following contacts:

Alternative contact: 0758 023 157 (Mpano Irinatwe Michelle)

He expressed gratitude to those willing to support his education, saying their contribution could make the difference between dropping out and achieving his academic dreams.
