Joselyn ‘Akiiki’ Kyaligonza, a Makerere University student emerged the overall winner of the Miss Bunyoro 2020 beauty pageant.
In the same contest, Sabbath Ayebale, a Kyambogo University student was second runner up following a very stiff competition.
The competition which saw fourteen contestants active for the top spot, is held annually to celebrate culture and beauty in the Bunyoro region and this year’s theme was “Empowering Women & Developing Bunyoro”.
Three students made it past the semi-final which involved online voting where Joselyn Kyaligonza came top with 2800 votes, Evas Tibananuka (Makerere University) took the second spot with 2300 votes, and finally, Sabbath Ayebale emerged third with 1,300 votes.
The grand finale didn’t make any big difference as Kyaligonza still emerged winner, Tibananuka was first runner up and Ayebale locked in her position, as second runner up.
These finalists faced a panel of judges who accordingly, awarded them points basing on their confidence, intelligence and knowledge of the Bunyoro culture among other things.
Congratulations to the winners!
