Brian Gitta Asiimwe, a third year Electrical Engineering student from Makerere University is representing Uganda at the Federation of International University Sports (FISU) forum in Kazan Russia.
The forum, first of its kind, is dubbed the FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy 2017.
The event has attracted several university students from all walks of life.
It is aimed at creating a permanent platform for networking between Volunteers, National University Sports Federations’ representatives and other interested persons.
The forum is also aimed at increasing their exchange of views and experience in the delivery of volunteer programmes during major international sporting and students’ events.
The participants from various universities across the world are also being taken through and getting acquainted with the values of world anti-doping agency.
The other activities they are engaged in and being taught include volunteer management, proffessional English for sports leaders ,networking , Olympic values , sharing experiences from different backgrounds & teamwork.
Brian Gitta who is a player for both the Makerere University football team and the cricket team, also served as Mitchell Hall Sports Minister in the academic year 2016-2017.
He is an illustrious sportsman and has won several accolades both individually and for the teams he has played for.
The forum started on 2nd July and will end on 10th of the same month.
