OKELLO HERBERT
This morning a stronger, better organized strike broke out resisting the oppressive financial policy, that demands that tuition must be paid within the first 6 weeks. The interim government led by Chark Benson, negotiated the extension of the policy deadline by two weeks. However students are bitter, a petition has been making rounds asking students to sign against the policy. Led by a certain Ssenyonga Simon, Law 2. This morning more gowns were seen and bullets had to be fired to cool the incensed crowd. Students wielding canes went through lecture rooms interrupting lectures and chasing students out to the cause… The situation isn’t yet to normal but there’s some calm for now. Student leaders are apparently engaged in protracted negotiations. The police has managed to avert the violence.
Strikes, strikes, and more strikes

The Monday strike was led by a guild president contestant Mukula George Williams and the association of government sponsored students, MAGOSA. demanding for the scrapped faculty allowance, first and second years were at the front .It however miserably collapsed. Just a few police deployment. Wednesday had a mini demonstration over the 100% tuition within 6 weeks policy. It also fizzled out.
