Students at the troubled Makerere University, who by now have only six days to report back for continuation of the first semester, have been asked to clear fees by the second week of January.
In a letter issued by Eng Dr Charles Wana-Etyem, the Makerere University Council chairperson, students are mandated to comply with the fees policy or risk on missing their exams
“Students shall comply fully with the tuition policy which requires them to complete payment of all fees by the 12th week of the semester. [ that is two weeks from January 2, 2017],” the letter reads in part.
This will be as so because the university was closed 10 weeks into the semester, meaning only two weeks were remaining for the twelve-week deadline for fees payment.
However, the communique has raised mixed reactions among the students that Campus Bee has talked, as some see it as quite unfair while others say it’s good because parents and guardians have had a long period to find the fees balances.
According to the university council, students will be at the university for seven weeks before having a one-week holiday that will usher them into the second semester.
