Makerere university students’ guild through the minister of student’s affairs has requested all government sponsored students at the ivory tower to remain calm over the delayed release of their recess allowances.
This follows threats from government sponsored students at Makerere University to strike due to delayed disbursement of their allowances.
Bua Isaac, the current Guild minister for students’ affairs informed the students fraternity that the delayed release of their allowances is caused by delayed submission of beneficiary lists to the university finance department.
‘’This serves to inform you that the university finance department has so far received a list of students from only one college which is College of Health Sciences. The list reached the dean of students’ office on Wednesday 12th January 2022 from the office of the principal and it was delivered on Friday 14th January 2022,’’ he revealed.
Bua appealed to his fellow students to remain calm as the remaining colleges are submitting beneficiaries’ lists to the dean of students which will then be sent to the finance department to commence on the release of allowances.
‘’The purpose of this letter is to inform all gov’t sponsored students at CHS to remain calm as the university finance department undergoes the payment process and also to remind other students doing recess to go out to their college principals and ensure that their details are captured and submitted,’’ Bua concluded.
