Friday 27 October saw lots of creativity exhibited at Makerere Hill. Gallant intellectuals of the The Ivory Tower proved that their brains don’t stop at academics – they have eye-catching business plans and innovations. In an event held in The Freedom Square, and graced by top administrators of the university, a precedent for the next generations was undoubtedly set.
Over 1000 students from the College Of Business And Management Sciences, from degree programs like Master Of Business Administration 1, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Development Economics, Bachelor of Arts and Science in Economics, and others, participated in the expo – Most of these presenting this as coursework.
The Marketing and Management Department was hailed by Dr. Umar Kakumba, PhD, for organizing a successful business expo. Dr. Peter Turyakira, head of the team, thanked his students for their efforts to harken to a noble call from their lecturers.
“The course aims at making students understand role of an entrepreneur and innovativeness.” Dr. Cathy Mbidde, the Head of Entrepreneurship remarked; encouraging the students not to give up on the ventures they’ve put up at such a young age. Commodities like crafts of all kinds, beverages, detergents, confectionery, apps and others were all on display.
The three best exhibitors, as evaluated by a team of experts, got 1 million, 700,000 and 500,000 to help inject in their businesses as they Build For The Future.
