A new social website, www.makmingle.com is now the talk of the day at Makerere University all thanks to the inventive ideas of Brian Okuku, a fourth year student of computer engineering at the University.
Brian Okuku, explains that the idea of making the website hit him in 3 years back, in his first year. Coming from Kyambogo College, Okuku was a former student of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths (PCB/M) which gave him less time to socialize with girls. Okuku teaming with a friend from the same school, asked their mutual friend Daniel Kaboyo, who is famous among the female sex to hook them up on blind dates with some girls. From that moment, they thought that many other university students face the same challenge and thus Makmingle was created.
Makmingle.com is a social blind dating website that basically connects the students of Makerere University. For now, only a student of Makerere University can sign up for this web site. The website works in partnership with Piato restaurant, 3D cinema at Ham towers and Guild canteen where tickets are offered by the administration for a date ( at a price) where a couple can go for a date after agreeing
Originally meant to be just a dating website, Makmingle has developed into so much more offering a section of News around campus, a platform for those selling property and accomodation, to help those in need of where to stay; say foreign students.
The site has over 1000 sign ups now and once can’t help it but anticipate its development.
