Word reaching our hive from MUK is that second year tourism students and third year forestry students are pissed off after they were ordered to pay for a lecturer’s phone. This happened today after Dr. Mwavu Edward, a lecturer at the school of forestry environmental and geographical studies, reported that his phone was stolen by his students yesterday evening (10th, March, 2016) in his office.
The students stormed the lecturers’ office yesterday to beat the deadline for handing in their topics for research. During the crowding in the lecturers office, one sharp student managed to thug the lecturers phone but the lecturer did not realize till late when he was leaving office. The infuriated lecturer today morning stormed the dean of students office and filed his complaint.
The punishment was given to all the students who handed in their topics yesterday (10th/ 03/ 2016) and it was for all of them to contribute and buy the phone. Those affected are; 2nd year and 3rd year students of tourism and forestry respectively.
Our snoops have confirmed that the phone is a Samsung galaxy s4 that was given to the all lecturers in this faculty by the university. Most of the students who handed in their question yesterday and are now supposed to pay for te lecturers phone have shown their frustration as some are promising not to pay since they claim they do not know who picked the phone.
Others even believe that the lecturer may have lost his phone somewhere else but just wants students to buy him another phone. We hope this act may not incite students into another strike since MUK is known for striking even over the smallest things.
