Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Professor Barnas Nawangwe has suspended three students for leading a strike that ended prematurely on Monday morning.
The three students are; Frank Bwambale (a journalism and communications student), Obbo Johnson Emmanuel (BA Eduction student), and David Musiri (Bcom student).
The students this morning were demonstrating against the 15% tuition increment. Police fired teargas to disperse the angry privately sponsored students who were demanding the university management to rescind its decision.
The students were notified of their suspension through the university’s official twitter handle @MakerereU which said; “The following students are hereby Suspended from Makerere University for engaging in disruptive activities and breaching the University Students Regulations. The Chief Security Officer has been instructed to ensure that they vacate the university premises immediately.”
