Samuel Mugarura, the Makerere University chemistry student who made teargas and claims he can make bombs has now unveiled things he will be doing in a period of six years from now.
Mugarura, who has since been in the limelight, has so far met with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura, wrote to prime minister Ruhakana Rugunda informing him about the innovation and also claims the president wants to meet him.
But on top of all these meetings and several others to follow, the 23-year-old has today unveiled what he plans to do by 2021.
“Five years from now, I want to be having a plant for explosives. I want to make something that the world has never seen. I want to be independent but working with government. This plant will be releasing residues that I will be using to make fertilizers, herbicides, or even laboratory chemicals that the local people will be able to benefit from,” Mugarura told Campus Bee this morning.
Mugarura also said that he is done with the theory part of the type of the bombs he will be making.
“My bomb is the rare type. It will be made from uranium that is not like these cheap atomic ones. There is a lot of uranium in Hoima and I can get it only that I can’t demonstrate how this bomb type works because there are conventional steps that I have to follow first…but all these will be sorted in five or six years from now.”
Asked whether he is the willing to work for police only, the third year chemistry student declined.
“If I work for police, then I may be confined to innovating particular types of things, yet I want to be independent – working with government and not for government,” he relieved.
Just after demonstrating how his innovation of teargas works, Makererere University Vice Chancellor Prof John Ddumba-Ssentamu disowned Mugarura, saying he isn’t a student of the institution.
Mugarura also claims that several security agencies warned him against making explosives without permission.
