Makerere: Tension Mounts, Heavy Security Deployed as Gov’t Students Demand Allowances

A large group of Makerere University government sponsored students have today stormed the Senate building offices demanding for allowances which cater for the feeding.

In that effect, police has been heavily deployed around the campus to keep the situation under control.

It should be made known that these students, together with other government sponsored students from other universities such as Kyambogo are up in arms over the same matter.

The students say, they’ve been patient for the allowances for over two months.

“The semester is coming to a close, and students are going in for the end-of-semester exams which have welfare consequences for the government-sponsored students, whose allowances have been worryingly delayed,” partially reads a letter that was earlier written by Guild representative – Sharifa Kiranda, to the University administration
