Makerere University Accepts Dr Stella Nyanzi’s Resignation From MISR

Embattled Makerere University Institute of Social Research (MISR) Research Fellow Dr. Stella Nyanzi has resigned from her position at the Ivory Tower, according to documents Campus Bee has received.

The Kampala Woman MP hopeful had her letter of resignation from her public service job in the 638th meeting of the University’s Appointments Board that sat on Friday 17th, July 2020.

The reasons for her resignation are believed to be the requirements by the Electoral Commission (EC) mandating every prospective electoral candidates to resign from public service jobs ahead of the 2021 Presidential and General Elections.

Lawrence Ssanyu, the Ag Human Resource Officer of Makerere University acknowledged receipt of Nyanzi’s resignation from Makerere University much to the awe of our reporters that thought the researcher had been sacked from her job.

She was recently awarded hundreds of millions of shillings after court in Kampala ruled that she had been unfairly sacked and her contract with the university terminated.

Nyanzi rose to fame in early 2016 when she stripped naked at MISR while demonstrating against her boss and the current Director of MISR Prof Mahmood Mamdani.
