Makerere University has officially announced the commencement of graduation gown distribution for students set to graduate during its 76th Graduation Ceremony, scheduled for later this February.
According to a notice issued by the Office of the Academic Registrar, all eligible graduands are informed that the issuance of graduation gowns will begin on Monday, 2nd February 2026. The exercise will take place at the University Hall (Dining Hall) and will run daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
The university has emphasized that only students whose names appear on the official Senate Graduation List will be eligible to receive gowns. Graduands are also required to present a valid student ID or national ID, alongside proof of gown payment, at the time of collection.
The announcement comes as part of preparations for Makerere University’s 76th Graduation Ceremony, which will be held from Tuesday, 24th February to Friday, 27th February 2026, at the Freedom Square. Thousands of students from various colleges are expected to graduate during the four-day event.
University authorities have urged graduands to observe the set timelines and requirements to ensure a smooth and orderly process. Further guidelines regarding graduation schedules and standard operating procedures are expected to be communicated in due course.
Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest and largest public institution, continues to encourage graduands to stay updated through official communication channels as the long-awaited graduation celebrations draw closer.
