Makerere University has announced that Semester Two of the 2025/2026 academic year will officially open on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
The announcement was made through an official communication from the Office of the Academic Registrar, Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, wishing students a restful holiday break ahead of the resumption of academic activities.
According to the notice, all continuing students are expected to report back to campus in preparation for lectures, assessments and other academic engagements scheduled for the second semester.
University management encouraged students to make necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth return, including registration and clearance processes in line with university guidelines.
Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest and largest public university, traditionally releases semester opening dates early to allow students and staff adequate time to plan.
