Makerere university arts students have been shocked by Professor Barnabas Nawangwe’s revelation on the possibility of not having physical lectures in November.
While speaking to NTV, architect Professor Barnabas Nawangwe drafted Makerere’s current plan on continuity of learning.
According to Nawangwe, only students studying science disciplines or courses will report to campus come 1st November. Arts students will continue learning online and only report to campus to do exams.
Nawangwe’s remarks have raised serious debate among arts students who feel cheated by the arrangement.
“We have been vaccinated. What excuse does he have.” a one Yusuf Musomesa wondered.
According to Yusuf Waidembe Musomesa, a guild aspirant in the forthcoming 87th guild race, Nawangwe is simply afraid of politically driven students of which, according to him, are majorly arts students.
It should be noted that the president of Uganda H.E Yoweri.k. Museveni had given a green light regarding resumption of physical learning come November 1st on condition that learners are vaccinated.
Most universities are prioritizing vaccination with an intention of opening for all students. However Uganda’s premier university is dancing to another tune.
