Following the end of Prof Mondo Kagonyera’s two terms of service as the Chancellor Makerere University. The University Council of the institution will be sitting today, Wednesday October 21,2015 to decide on the two candidates that will be forwarded to the President, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for appointment as next Chancellor.
Council members are to be presented to prospective members for the position of Chancellorship who have been nominated by the public through a search committee. Among the people interested in the position is; Dr.Ezra Suruma the former finance minister, Justice Benjamin Odoki and Prof. Charles Olweny.
The Makerere Students’ Guild will be represented by its Guild President David Bala and his deputy. According to Makerere Students’ Guild Information Minister Hon. Davidson Ndyabahika, the Guild President in the same meeting is to propose removal of the University’s policy of tuition payment of 100% by 6th week since it’s already currently unfeasible.
In a statement released last night on the Makerere Students’ Guild Facebook page, the Students’ Guild Information Minister wished favor to the one lucky candidate for Chancellorship.
