The goddess of luck seems to have stripped for Makerere University in the previous days. The rate at which Makerere teams seem to be winning is alarming. The latest on the list is the ACFODE Debate Championship.
Action For Development (ACFODE) organised an inter-University Debate competition that ran for close to four days and was held at Nobe View Hotel in Ntinda.
The Debate which attracted Seven Universities among which was Makerere University, Gulu University, Kyambogo University, KIU, Uganda Christian University, UIUI, and Kabale University was won by the team from Makerere that had Murungi Patrick and Kansime Mukama Taremwa (both 2nd Year Law Students).
The Debates were about harnessing the potential of the Youth in influencing the social economic and political agenda of the Country.
Seven Universities participated with each having two teams. The finals had two teams for Gulu University, one team for Kyambogo and Makerere University.
Action for Development (ACFODE) is an indigenous, voluntary, non-governmental women’s organization whose formation was stimulated by the United Nations Third World Conference on Women held in Nairobi in July 1985.
Even after emerging overall winners, Makerere University were not done as Naluyima Samantha also went ahead to emerge the tournament’s Best Speaker.
