Makerere University Dominates the Miss Tourism Regional Search

The search for this year’s Miss Tourism Uganda kicked off months ago in different regions.

The regional Miss Tourism search events have happened in regions like West Nile, Teso, Bunyoro, Ankole and Karamoja.

Quite a number of university students embraced this year’s search with Makerere University scoping the lion’s share of the crowns.

The winners will represent their respective regions at the Miss Tourism grand finale on September 23rd, 2022 at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The Bee has compiled a list of regional winners with their respective universities.

Karamoja Region

Kyambogo Students Gear Up for Two Weeks of Bazaar Extravaganza

The Miss Tourism Search in Karamoja took place at Joliburn Hotel and it had 7 contestants. Genevive Nakoli, a student from Kampala International University pursing a Bachelor’s Degree in social and community development emerged as the winner after beating 6 other contestants.

The first runner up was Moru Consolota, a first year student at Francis School of Health pursuing Diploma in Biomedical Engineering and the second runner up Fatuma Nakeny, a second year student of Kampala International University.


Teso Region

Mary Ariokot Etilu, a second year student at YMCA pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Catering and Hospitality Management was crowned the winner and will represent Teso region.

The first runner up was Mercy Enid Amoding, a third year student at Uganda Christian University pursuing a Bachelor of Law and the second runner up was Brenda Eunice Atim a second year student at Makerere University Business School pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Travel and Tourism Management.


West Nile Region
The search for Miss Tourism West Nile was conducted last week at Vintage Lounge in Adjumani. The winner was Lillian Ayot, a final year student at Makerere University studying Journalism and Communication.

The first runner up was Desire Ayona, a student at Mulago Paramedical School Pursuing Environmental health sciences.

The second runner up was Lillian Kwiyocwiny, a second year student at Makerere University Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Fine Art.


Ankole Region
Claire Natukunda from Uganda Christian University was crowned Miss Tourism Ankole. Natukunda is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication.

The first runner up was Abigail Kirabo, a Kyambogo University student studying Bachelors of Arts with Education. The second runner up was Alice Kyasimire, a graduate at Ndejje University with a Degree in Information Technology and Music.


Bunyoro Region
The crowning for Miss Tourism Bunyoro took place at HB Hotel in Hoima City and the overall winner was Jane Murungi, a Social Sciences student at Makerere University.

The first runner up was Jacent Rose Nagooba Akiiki, a second year student of Muni University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.

The search for Miss Tourism 2022 is still on, and the regional winners will compete amongst themselves for the Miss Tourism 2022 crown.
