Tabitha Ndegemu demolished the home of her father Mzee Jackson Muly Mampiti in Mbale district with intentions to seize and take over the land on Wednesday.
This Makerere University lecturer shocked clansmen and neighbors who bore witness as she carried out this despicable act.
Dr. Ndegemu who lectures at the College of Agriculture and Environmental sciences employed able bodied men to demolish the house which forced Mzee Mampita who was looking on in shock to take shelter at the verandah of a neighbor. The reasons behind the eviction are unclear but it is believed that the Makerere don has intentions of taking over the land of her father.
According to Mzee Mampiti, he is ready to challenge the demolition in court in a bid to retain his land which he has been settled for the last three decades.
“I have filed a petition at the high court. It is a shame that a child I took up as my own has done this to me,” he lamented.
Additional reporting from Nile Post indicates that Mzee Mampiti has lived in this home together with 8 wives and dozens of children. It has left him wondering where he will go next after his only hope for old age has been shattered.
