Makerere University, through the Makerere endowment fund, has launched an alumni advance system.
The system will be a data collection center for all alumni records and a donation point towards Makerere University projects.
The Makerere University advance system that has undergone a series of successful trials was launched on August 2, 2022 by Professor Barnabas Nawangwe.
Professor Maggie Kigozzi, the chariperson Makerere endowment fund said there is need for alumni to come back and donate towards development of the university.
Professor Maggie believes the advance system will ease donations and also address issues of accountability.
Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, the institution’s vice chancellor also emphasized the donation ease that the system comes with.
“There is now a system through which you can now contribute to Makerere endowment fund. I would like to thank the young people that have worked on it. Thank you for being patriotic.” Professor Nawangwe said.
According to Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, the endowment funds will help the university work on a number of projects such as a student center, new girls halls of residences, scholarships, research and construction of a standard hospital.
The Makerere advance system will offer mainly seven services and these are Alumni stakeholder management and profiling, payment management, donor ranking, course management, events and webinar management, dashboard, social media management and fund profiling as well as an online souvenir and gift shop.
In order to use the advance system, one is required to open up an account through which they can track their profile record, donate, follow latest Makerere trends and also buy items from the souvenir shop.
