Makerere University has been forced to extend the deadline of submitting graduation lists for the 75th graduation ceremony slated for January 2024.
According to the academic registrar Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, the extension has been made due to the few graduates that had been cleared for graduation.
“Senate noted with concern that there were very few graduates on the graduation lists,” writes Mukadasi in his letter dated November 11, 2024.
The deadline for submission of the graduation lists has been extended to December 6th, 2024 beyond which no more extensions will be made.
Makerere University senate will sit on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, to approve the submitted graduation lists.
The Bee has learnt that one of the reasons for the few graduates is the mandatory tuition clearance by graduands before they are cleared to graduate.
Makerere University will hold its 75th graduation ceremony from January 13th to January 17th 2025. The ceremony will be presided over by the new chancellor Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga.
