Makerere University has instated Online Research Proposal Defence to enable various final year students accomplish the mandatory step virtually amidst the COVID-19 lockdown.
For years, research is a requisite for every finalist to graduate, which involves writing proposals and putting into action, what one has learnt in due course of their study.
Traditionally, the Makerere University’s thesis examination policy required that all participants be physically present in the room where the thesis defense is taking place, however, under exceptional circumstances, videoconferencing has been permitted due to the COVID-19 repercussions.
A set of guidelines to be followed have been set to make this digital proposal defense successful. Some of which, ensuring that the candidate knows how to use the software platform among others.
