Waiswa Ronald Mirondo, a recent graduate of Civil Engineering at Makerere University has been selected to join the Tropical Diseases Research (TDR) programme and SESH (Social Entrepreneurship to Spur Health) Research Programme by the World Bank.
This is after his health Innovation Proposal “Village Based Rehabilitation Programme” emerged among the top four Health Innovation Programmes across the globe in the concluded Go Youth Global Open call.
The Village Based Rehabilitation Programme is anchored on the access to Early intervention therapy for children with disabilities by leveraging technology to improve development of children with disabilities and empower their caregivers.
This humanitarian project emerged among the top four exceptionally brilliant ideas hence it was recognized by the UNICEF, UNDP, the World Bank and the World Health Organization (WHO) Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases.
Waiswa will be joining this Programme as a Semi finalist.
The SESH (Social Entrepreneurship to Spur Health) initiative is a partnership joining individuals from Southern Medical University Dermatology Hospital, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of North Carolina.
Ronald will receive a seed research funding as well as opportunities to network and partner with global experts.
TDR and SESH are global programmes of Scientific collaboration that help facilitate, support and influence efforts to combat diseases and poverty.
Waiswa Ronald Mirondo has continuously excelled in Global innovations, something that cannot be taken lightly. He recently won the World Health Summit Award 2021 (Kampala, Uganda) thus representing the entire African continent in the Future Play Design Challenge 2022 (Denmark).
He credits Dr. Patrick Byakatonda, the Director – Directorate of Industrial Training who has extremely elevated the Directorate to internationally recognized quality assurance services. (ISO 900: 2015)
Makerere University is as well proud to call such an intelligent young man as one of their own.
Uganda and the African continent at large continue to rise high and attain recognition because of such brilliance and inspiration.
