In the Miss Tourism Teso grand finale that took place over the weekend, 20 year-old, Amuge Gertrude Olungura was crowned the Miss Tourism for Teso 2017 queen. The first-year student of Bachelors of Community Psychology from Makerere University was also awarded for displaying the best talent during the event when she showed skill dancing to a variety of African folk songs.
The event took place on Saturday (2nd September) during the late hours of the evening around 10 pm till late, at Strikers Hotel conference hall in Soroti District, around the theme, “Promoting of tourism and sensitizing the mass about wildlife and environmental conservation”.
Amuge was overwhelmed by the announcement that declared her winner of the highly contested beauty pageant and she felt so good.
Out of the 9 contestants, three were crowned, the main queen herself and the 1st Runner Up Aduto Sharon and 2nd Runner Up Anyu Jessica.
“I feel sooo happy, and very excited” she says. “I thank the judges for seeing potential in me when they chose me as the winner”.
