On 24th January, the Inspector General of Police Okoth Ochola made a reshuffle in his team where over 30 senior officers were transferred to new areas and others were dropped from top positions.
This was implemented by the Police’s Director of Human Resource Management, AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire where SP Rashid Doka was reshuffled from being Makerere University Police Commander and transferred to Kampala Metropolitan Police as Operations Commander.
He was replaced by SSP Ibrahim Saigi who had just been promoted to that position. Police says this was done was to reinforce security within Makerere University.
It should be noted that police plays a vigorous role in ensuring that Makerere is secure and free from any instabilities especially during the time of students demonstrations and guild campaigns.
The reshuffle comes at a time the Makerere University vice chancellor was raising concern over anticipated hooliganism and violence in the upcoming university guild elections.
