Makerere University Guild President Shamim Nambassa has extended her campaign of ensuring that the gender bias among girls is broken and girls are equipped with skills that can help them accomplish their studies and also to raise their living standards.
Nambassa, together with Barbie Kyagulanyi reached out to girls and women in Busoga region to orient them on several crucial life aspects such as culture, career and leadership.
Nambasa Shamim shared her life experience to empower the girls in the room.
“Over the weekend, I was privileged to have been part of the first lady’s entourage that joined the Nnatabi Maria Ledochowska foundation in an outreach in Busoga subregion. We discussed several things regarding feminism and leadership. Like the first lady guided, the first thing to do in nation building is to empower the girl child and groom her into a leader. It’s our generation to create the next generation leaders,” Nambassa revealed.
In attendance were students from MM college Wairaka, Busende seed, Hope community and Wairaka Modern secondary school.
District and local council leaders participated as well.
