The Makerere University Hospital, located along the Makerere Hill Road, just behind Ham Towers is set to begin testing for novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, we can exclusively confirm.

The University Hospital, according to reports we’re privy to, has received 40,000 testing kits to enable them carry out the tests. According to earlier reports from the Ministry of Health, a single test for the coronavirus can go upto USD 65 which is just about Shs 240,000.

According to the Makerere University vice chancellor, the kits were through a collaboration with Case Western Reserve University in the United States.

“Makerere University has received a total of 40,000 testing kits for Coronavirus which will enable the University Hospital conduct tests for COVID-19. These kits are already in the country!” Prof Nawangwe said.
