The Makerere University international students that had to stay in hostels and halls have been given 63,000 shillings per student for the next two weeks as a relief package.
The money is only applicable to the students that stayed in the country and are fully enrolled on AIMS for the semester. The international students that stayed were all asked to move to Africa and Livingstone halls so that other halls that weren’t in use could be fully locked.
They were required to submit their details including name, student number, registration number, program of study, country and phone number (registered with a mobile money)
They submitted these details to their different association leaders and other identified persons. The money, that was made available yesterday, is being distributed through the office of the acting guild administrator.
The students are required to report at Africa hall today with their university identity card and a photocopy of their passport and sign to confirm receiving the money. The money is then sent to their mobile money numbers after the confirmation.
