Makerere University Dean of Students, Ms. Winfred Kabumbuli has issued a warning letter to the ring leaders of the Inter-religious prayers organized at the Freedom Square last week.
In her letter dated August 30,2022, the Dean said yet to be identified students organized disruptive prayers in contradiction with the University Rules and Regulations.
“Our office has learnt that on 26th August 2022, at around 6:30pm, yet to be identified purportedly held an Inter-religious prayer session at Freedom Square in contravention of the Makerere University Rules and Regulations Section 8(1)(c) which stipulates: Prayers outside the designated places of worship shall require permission from the Vice Chancellor,” Ms. Kabumbuli’s letter read.
According to her, basing on the policy guidelines regulating student conduct while at the University and ensuring peace and tranquility of other students as well as the conducive teaching and learning environment, behaviors of this nature cannot be tolerated.
“I hereby serve you the first and last warning against this mischievous behavior failure of which may result in further corrective action up to and including dismissal,” the Dean of Students warned.
