Makerere University officially resumed studies yesterday 5th October 2020 for all programmes as earlier announced by the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs Mr. Umar Kakumba. The studies are however being held online in bid to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Campus Bee has also learnt that medical finalists have already reported on campus for physical studies.
The university also plans to reopen for other finalists who will report on campus on October 19th following President Museveni’s permission to have all final year students resume their studies. The finalists are expected to observe guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health in curbing the deadly virus like social distancing as well as use of face masks.
Following the resumption of lectures, normal activities like presentations have also been scheduled by different colleges for students who had not presented when universities were closed in March this year over COVID-19.
Online lectures have affected students differently as some learners have already started complaining about lack of data and gadgets like smartphones and computers.
According to Kakumba, the semester was remaining with about six weeks before schools were closed in March.
The university also plans to hold exams starting November where students will sit for end of semester exams in batches while observing Standard Operating Procedures.
