Over the years, outstanding university students have not been rewarded in any sort of way. This, however, is going to change as Makerere University has today announced MAK VARSITY Awards that will be taking place every year.
Ritah Namisango, the University’s spokesperson said any outstanding personality and current member of staff or current student at the university may be nominated for the annual awards.
“These awards are dedicated to rewarding, showcasing talent and committed to pursuing the development and growth of personalities,” Namisango said.
Namisango explained that the broad criteria for the awards includes exceptional achievement in any arena, a substantive contribution which has enhanced the reputation of the University, and examples of exceptional achievement by staff include sporting success and leadership of a community project.
