Makerere University is looking forward to renovating its halls of residence and in order to achieve this, the institution is looking for UGX100 billion.
Professor Alinaitwe Henry, the institution’s deputy vice chancellor in charge of finance and administration disclosed that Makerere is on the hunt for 100 billion to renovate its halls of residence.
Professor Alinaitwe told journalists on Wednesday May 4th, 2022 that the renovations will take place in processes and are expected to be complete in the next five years. Besides, government of Uganda is to provide the necessary funds for the renovation but still in bits thus the lengthy duration for completion.
This he said when he appeared at MTN Uganda head quarters to receive a donation of shs. 180 million from MTN to aid in the Makerere centennial celebrations
Makerere University has nine halls of residences within the university and these are in a quite alarming state.
Students have overtime complained about the worrying state in which their halls are and the university management believes the forthcoming renovations will put an end to all these complaints as Makerere halls of residences get a new signatory face.
