Makerere University students have one more week at home after the university council resolved to push the reporting dates for semester I by one week.
This follows two weeks after the non-teaching staff laid down their tools in protest of low remuneration. The non-teaching staff went on strike accusing the university of increasing the teaching staff salary and turning a blind eye to their plea (increasing their salary too).
“The first year students (freshers) who that were supposed to report on Saturday August 15 will report on Saturday August 22,” said the Makerere University spokesperson, Ritah Namisango.
She added: “All continuing students who were scheduled to report on Saturday 22nd August 2015 will report on Monday 24th August 2015.”
