Makerere University staff and the permanent secretary Ministry of Public Service are scheduled to meet on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 over staff salary arrears.
Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, Ag deputy VC academic affairs, said on Monday that a meeting had been scheduled with the PS ministry of public service to resolve the issue of salary arrears among Makerere University staff.
I am pleased to inform you that a meeting has been called by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Service, to discuss and comprehensively address the issues of salary harmonisation, which have also been expressed by the staff of other public universities, said Prof. Mukadasi.
Mukadasi made the revelation in a letter to the guild president Lubega Nsamba dated October 14.
The letter was in response to Nsamba’s request to Makerere University management to dialogue with the striking staff so that they resume their duties.
Nsamba noted that students have missed lectures since Monday last week when staff members declared a sit-down strike.
