The oldest University in East Africa, Makerere University has been ranked 7th in the university rankings carried out by the Centre for World University Rankings [CWUR] not long after it dropped from third place to 4th position early this year [April] in the African University Rankings, 2016.
Makerere University is also the only University from East Africa that made it to the top 1000 universities in the world holding the 846th position in the rankings, after it rose 23 positions in the world from the 869th last year.
Makerere University came after Egypt’s Cairo University and was followed by Ain Shams University [Egypt]
