The Government has stopped Makerere University staff from making any foreign trips on behalf of the university.
This followed the presidential directive to close the University after the failed negotiations between management council and Makerere University Academic Staff (MUASA) over unpaid incentive amounting to Shs 28 billion.
Makerere University council led by Dr Charles Wanna Etyem convened an emergency meeting and pronounced it’s self on the implementation of the directive.
It also directed all workers to go home with the exception of skeletal staff in the office of the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellors, the University Bursar, and the University Secretary to allow interface between the university and government.
We shall keep you updated on the ongoing developments.
