Inspiration is an understatement for a student who not only makes the best of her studies but also achieves the seemingly impossible in the shortest time.
Halima Bukirwa, a fourth year student from Makerere University gave the Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB) a reason to smile with her early loan repayment.
Halima enrolled at the great Makerere University to pursue a Bachelors degree in Software Engineering with little hope for financial support in her first year.
Against all odds, she believed until her loan scheme application was accepted, beginning a new chapter that erased the worries about tuition and related burdens.
The battle was won at that point but the war was far from over since she had to work hard to complete her degree in time and proceed to repayment.
Luckily, in her pursuit for greatness, she relentlessly sought after other opportunities at her disposal among which was the Google developer student clubs.
She tried a couple of times until she was later accepted and chosen as the team leader at Makerere University.
The Google developer student clubs came with an enormous prize of a grant that relieved Halima of the future task to pay back the study loan.
“On Monday, October 17th, 2022, Halima Bukirwa, a Loan Scheme Beneficiary at the @MakCoCIS @Makerere offering Bsc. Software engineering, walked to our offices with clearance receipts for her student loan of UGX 12Million. She recently won a scholarship fund from @Google as a member of the Google Student Clubs & she used it to clear her outstanding loan and paid for her 4th year,” HESFB tweeted.
Halima’s astonishing story is capped with the fact that her intention to repay the loan as soon as possible was to ensure that someone else benefits from it.
“She paid it up fast because she desires that another student is supported,” HESFB added.
Halima Bukirwa is nothing but full of praise for the scheme saying: “I am forever grateful to @HESFBUG.”
