Makerere University students joined efforts to promote environmental hygiene in Kikoni a neighbourhood that is home to thousands of Makerere students.
The Kikoni clean up that was organised by the students guild government took place on Saturday, November 3, 2024.
Besides the cleaning, the students also donated blood to save lives.
The office of the dean of students commended the students for the initiative in a post on X.
“It’s not just learning and teaching at Makerere, the 90th MakGuild students conducted a clean up initiative and medical outreach in kikoni. Kikoni is home to a number of students hostels housing large numbers of students,” the post read.
Speaking during the clean up, the off campus minister Amon Muzora thanked the students for turning up for the clean up.
The clean up was part of the students guild’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts in promoting safer and cleaner environments for students.
