Makerere university has held virtual guild elections online twice in a row; the first being the 86th guild elections and the recently concluded 87th guild elections that were won by NUP’s Nambassa Shamim.
News reaching campus bee indicates that a one Waidembe Yusuf, a former president MUGOSA ( Makerere University Government Student’s Association) has been summoned by the directorate of ICT at Makerere university over hacking into the university system and rigging the 86th guild elections.
Yusuf Waidembe who was summoned to meet Makerere’s DICT on Monday 15th November told Campus bee that he was only shocked to receive a phone call from one of the technical assistants at college of computing informing him to appear before the DICT head over hacking and rigging elections.
“They blocked my webmail and muele account.” Waidembe angrily said. Waidembe says he is being accused of rigging votes for Oguttu Aron one of the aspirants in the 86th guild race.
However attempts to get a comment from the DICT head were futile as the in-charge had an engagement by the time of publication.
Waidembe Yusuf is expected to appear before Makerere’s DICT again tomorrow 16th November to defend himself or else face police for further criminal charges.
