Makerere University has issued a public notice in an urgent appeal for assistance in locating one of its students, Tumwine Elson, who has been reported missing since June 8, 2025.
Elson is a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Agriculture and Rural Innovation in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES). He is affiliated with the School of Agricultural Sciences and previously served as the 89th Guild Tribunal Representative for the college.
According to the university’s official statement, Elson was last seen while participating in an internship program. Despite extensive efforts by his internship supervisor and college authorities, no contact has been made with him since the day he was last seen.
The university has expressed deep concern for Elson’s safety and well-being and is urging both the university community and the general public to come forward with any information that may aid in locating him. A photograph and contact details were included in the notice to facilitate identification.

The Dean of Students and the School and College Administration have also endorsed the appeal, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in these critical circumstances.
As the search continues, the university is asking for the public’s vigilance and help in spreading the notice to increase the chances of a safe return.
