Makerere University in partnership with the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI) is planning to research for a vaccine for the virus.
In a bid to control the virus all help that can be acquired is very necessary to be able to secure a cure for the virus and save a number of lives following the first case of the virus in Africa confirmed in Egypt.
The corona virus has claimed up to 14000 lives in China and is slowly spreading to the rest of the world. This leaves many in fear of their lives and some of the Ugandan students still stuck in Wuhan, a city that is under lockdown.
Dr. Andrew Kambugu , the director of the research programme at Infectious Disease Institute confirmed that some aspects of the research will be done at the university. Discussions with partners are ongoing to kick off the work on the research of the corona virus.
