Makerere University to Hold the Annual Nelson Mandela Public Lecture

Makerere University through the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, in collaboration with the South African High Commission have organized the Nelson Mandela’s Annual Public Lecture slated for today, Monday, July 18, 2022.

The event will take place at Yusuf Lule Central Teaching Facility in the Auditorium starting at 2pm to 5:30pm

According to the statement released by the university, the public lecture will rest on the theme, “The legacy of Nelson Mandela, and the Role of Higher Education in the African Union Agenda 2063”.

The event is expected to be graced by Her Excellency Lulu Xingwana, as the Guest of Honour.

After the opening remarks from Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Makerere VC, the Public Lecture will proceed with a discussion rotating on the theme of the day, with Prof. Anthony Mugagga Muwagga, Dr. Fred Muhumuza, and Prof. Eliabu Lugujjo, the Ndejje University Vice Chancellor as the panelists.

Nelson Mandela was an icon in the development of the education sector across Africa during his lifetime.
