While responding to some of the Makerere University student leaders’ demands on Monday, July 2nd, the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Finance and Administration) Prof. William Bazeyo explained that the administration is working hard to provide more furniture come the next academic year set to kick off in August.

The students’ leaders yesterday suggested that instead if students holding lectures in Halls of residence, the university should instead provide furniture in the two newly constructed buildings. In his response, Bazeyo revealed that the university is expecting to receive furniture from a private donor come next year around May.

Bazeyo added that the university will provide plastic seats in the newly constructed buildings starting with next semester as they await more furniture from donors. “As we wait for the donor’s furniture, we are going to procure furniture, plastic as you suggested.” Prof Bazeyo assured the Makerere student leaders.

It should be recalled that Kyambogo University introduced plastic seats in its new buildings last year, a move that got Makerere University students dissing that plastic seats are for kindergarten.
