Makerere University to Officially Unveil the Renamed Yusuf Lule Central Teaching Facility

Makerere University will be unveiling the Yusuf Lule Central Teaching Facility (CTF) this Friday, November 4, 2022 at the institution’s main campus in Kampala.

“We are thrilled to announce the official unveiling of the renamed Central Teaching Facility to happen on November 4, 2022. CTF 2 was renamed after H.E Yusuf Lule, Makerere University’s 1st black Principal,” the University’s communication reads.

The ceremony will start at exactly 10:00am and end at 12:30pm.

CTF 2 was renamed Yusuf Lule CTF in the memory of Professor Yusuf Lule Kironde who was the first Ugandan to lead the institution as Principal.

He was a lecturer at Makerere and served until 1970 when the different colleges comprising the University of East Africa (UEA) were made independent National University from the federation previously known as UEA.

He also served as the fourth president of Uganda between April 13, 1979 to June 20 1979.
