Makerere University is likely to open up a campus in Rwanda in order to have Rwandan nationals study from Makerere without crossing boarders.

The initiative is being fronted by Makerere University Rwanda Alumni Association (MURWAA).

According to Shukuru Bizimana Ruyondo the chairman MURWAA, the association is going to do its all to ensure that people living in Rwanda learn and get their degrees from Rwanda instead of crossing boarders to Kampala.

The development was announced at the Makerere University pre-centennial event held in Kigali, Rwanda on August 20, 2022.

The event which was centered on the theme ‘higher education for a changing world’ was organized by MURWAA with a purpose of celebrating Makerere’s 100 years of existence.

Hundreds of alumni from Rwanda graced the occasion to honour Makerere University’s contribution in their lives.
