Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has reacted to the on going online outcry involving the custodian at Olympia Hostel.
Several times, complaints have been brought forward about a one Nahabwe Reuben, who has often misused his office at the expense of the female students.
It is alleged that since Olympia Hostel’s inception, Reuben has been tormenting female students through acts of rape and other related sexual offenses.
News making rounds indicates that he is related to the hostel owner, hence the immunity against his awful behavior.
In recent years, Reuben was relieved of his duties due to the outrageous grievances against him. However, this didn’t last long since he was reinstated even after allegations of rape and sexual assault were not cleared.
Reportedly, management maneuvered their way through the authority, made him disappear for about months and later reinstated him in 2021.
Latest concerns indicate that the custodian has not changed his vices as reported recently in the media.
“This man is back to his old habits. He raped a student, whose identity is confidential. However admin, we request you to use your platform and get us more girls, who have been victims of this man’s assault and other related sexual offenses,” a source exposed.
This resulted into more reveals on Twitter that caught the VC’s attention as he reacted today (November 2) as follows;
“We shall use all resources available to reign in on this individual and others like him. Private hostels may not be our business, but they exist because we do, and parents/sponsors will send students to accredited private hostels from now on,” Prof Nawangwe commented.
He added that: “This year we worked on a process to accredit private hostels and instructed the Dean of Students to initiate this hostel accreditation process. Have those accredited published on our website.”
Nahabwe Rueben’s behavior is totally unbearable given the psychological and physical distress impacted on his victims.
